Tonight’s work – now I am going squint and can’t see what I am doing anymore.
You can see it was still wet when I took the photo. The graininess is from my French Ultramarine which grew a fungus in the palette because it stood too long – and it was sealed so it stayed damp – and this seemed to chow all the binder – gum arabic or whatever it was.
I will see if it needs touch ups tomorrow

At last I have begun:

Each of the paintings is on a full sheet of 300gm Arches 300gm rough.
Hopefully tomorrow I will have a chance to progress this.

I have been out to Betty’s Bay again and have taken some photos in the late afternoon. It takes a while to become familiar with a new scene to paint.
To see how I am doing I put the paintings against my bookshelf and look at them from outside my studio – like this:

Anyway – here is the painting as it looks now:

This week I stole an hour, in the middle of capturing a workshop document from my other world, to do this painting. I just did some touch-ups and want to take it down to the Chameleon Gallery in Kalk Bay – maybe even later today.
This is on 300gm Arches Hot Pressed and is 380x280mm
