Yesterday we all went out to meet the cousins and Torill at Muizenberg. The waves were small but it was a beautiful day so we sat and chatted and I did this painting.
This is 280 x 380 mm on 185gm Arches Hot Pressed. (loving the hot-pressed).
And here is my second painting of Sinead cooking in the kitchen. I darkened the background to focus on Sinead, my gentle child working away at a dinner for the family.
Also Arches Hot pressed – 560x380mm
here is the update on the first one.
this is 560x380mm on Arches Hot Pressed
My sweet daughter has become quite a cook. She regularly makes meals for us and makes cookies and mega banana-bread. So here she is in the kitchen – take I.
This is on 300gm Arches Hot Pressed – 560×380 and the photo was taken by Ethan on his iPod because my camera has gone on a hike.
This is the final painting in the project on the family at the beach. I am thinking of doing another version of this. But this is how it looks now. There was so much colour in the water.
This was done on a quarter sheet of Arches 300gm Cold Pressed (380 x 280 mm)
I took a couple of photos of the old-folks with the family at The Pipe and created this watercolour on Saturday. As you can see Ma is carrying the little guys wet clothes as well as everyone else’s shoes. I love this. Isn’t this just what mothers do?

Last night I started another Beach Family watercolour. I am off now to do some work in my other life and hope to be able to do the next part of this painting tonight. We have real winter weather now with cold rain and, I am certain, snow on the mountains. My studio is icy. But I wrap up and this is such a fun project.
So… A presto
Last week I had a great surf with my boys and stole a few minutes after we had packed up to take some photos of the closing day. There was a family playing on the beach and I took some shots to paint in the studio. Here is the first watercolour:
